Powerbands

A PowerBand is a long, closed elastic band without handles or bar. It is a different type than the resistance bands included in a set with grips and accessories, and it is used differently. Whereas a set like JAAFIT PRO is built for structured strength training with adjustable resistance per exercise, a PowerBand is a standalone training band that can be used for everything from assisted pull-ups and stretching to independent resistance training.

JAAFIT offers three PowerBands in different resistances. They can be used alone, together with a pull-up bar or as a supplement to bands with handles. The difference between them is not quality, but how much resistance they provide and what they are therefore suited for.

Three resistances, three starting points

PowerBand Light provides the least resistance and is the natural choice for assisted pull-ups if you are building up strength. It also works for warm-up, mobility and light resistance exercises where control is more important than load.

PowerBand Medium covers the broadest range. It provides enough resistance to serve as assistance for pull-ups for most people, and it can also be used for rows, presses and leg exercises when you want more load than Light can give. It is the most versatile of the three.

PowerBand Heavy is the heaviest and gives the most resistance. It is suitable for heavy stretching, assisted pull-ups for people with higher body weight and resistance exercises where you want to push the muscles harder. For pull-up assistance it is a starting point, not a goal. Progression goes from Heavy to Medium to Light and finally without a band.

Pull-ups with a band

Most people who want to learn pull-ups do not have the strength for a full rep from day one. A pull-up band solves this by taking part of your body weight, so you can train the movement itself with control instead of hanging and struggling. You wrap the band around the pull-up bar, place your foot or knee in the loop and perform repetitions with the assistance the band provides.

Over time you switch to a lighter band as strength grows, until you can do pull-ups without it. The same approach works for dips. This makes a PowerBand the piece of equipment that links pull-up and dip bars to your current strength, no matter where you start.

More than pull-ups

Training elastic bands are not limited to assistance. A PowerBand can be used for rows, overhead press, face pulls, banded squats and a range of other exercises where the long loop provides a resistance profile you don't get with short bands or dumbbells. For stretching and mobility it functions as a tool that pulls you deeper into positions you cannot reach alone.

If you want to see how training with bands can replace a gym, we have written more about it. JAAFIT Træningsappen has exercise guidance for PowerBands so you can start with a plan from day one.

If you are looking for a complete system with handles, bar and adjustable resistance per exercise, you can find it under resistance bands.
